Days 231 - 250 (Catch-up)

Here we are again... woefully behind on our Benjamin updates.  It's amazing how quickly the days go by, often one blurring into the next. Ben has been up to some fun things in the last couple of weeks! But in between the more memorable events have been some pretty mundane days, punctuated with cuteness and giggles. Once again, we present to you a summary of the last 20 days...

Day 231 - Sunday (Father's Day)

After church, Mom and Ben treated Dad to a breakfast feast at Frisch's.

Day 232 - Monday

Ben hangs out in the studio, under the work table.

Day 233 - Tuesday

This little water bug can't get enough of the splashing around!

Day 234 - Wednesday

All kinds of cuteness happened here...

Day 235 - Thursday

The family went to the preview show for Mom's big art event. Ben loved walking around with Pappy and checking out the work.

Day 236 - Friday

Day 237 - Saturday (34 Weeks)

Ben stayed home with Daddy while Mom went to the Art in Action show with Grammy and Great Aunt Chris. She didn't win any awards for her sculpture, but had a fun time getting all dressed up and going out on the town!

Day 238 - Sunday

Benjamin embarked on his first camping trip on Sunday! He and his folks spent a few days in Red River Gorge with the Blazer family.

Ben and his family slept in a tent, while the Blazers stayed in a rented cabin. Their first night at camp they enjoyed getting settled in and cooking dinner over the fire.

Day 239 - Monday

After a full night of sleep in the tent, nestled between Mom and Dad, Ben woke up refreshed and ready for a full day of adventures!

After breakfast, everyone packed up for a "quick" hike up to the Natural Bridge...

They all learned fairly quickly that 1.25 miles up a hill with a baby in a sling and an almost-3-year-old and a 7 year old in tow is no "quick" event. But once they got to the top, it was all worth it!

Back at camp, there were naps, resting, playing, fishing and getting ready for a swim.

Unfortunately, as soon as they got to the pool, a thunderstorm rolled in and everyone was forced to leave. The cabin was the perfect refuge to chill and wait for the rain to pass.

The rain eventually did clear out enough for Dad to build another fire. And the rest of the evening was spent playing campfire games into the night, with fireflies flickering all around.

Day 240 - Tuesday

After packing up the camp, the Wolfs and the Blazers took another short (much easier!) hike before heading back to the pool. The weather was perfect and sunny for some splashing around.

Ester and Evelyn put Ben to sleep while the grown-ups packed up camp.

Happy camper!

It was a fantastic little trip with some of their best friends. And Ben was quite a trooper through all of it! They can't wait to do it again next year!

Day 241 - Wednesday

Home again after a fun camping trip, Ben took the day to relax.

...and be cute.

Day 242 - Thursday

Eight months old today!!! Mom almost had a little melt-down when she read the title of an email newsletter, "Your 8-month-old is almost a toddler". It can't possibly be going this fast!

Day 243 - Friday

He sure is sweet when he's sleeping.

Day 244 - Saturday (35 Weeks)

While out running errands with Mom, Ben offered to drive.

Later Benjamin practiced some aerobics in the Johnny-Jump-Up...

...followed by some gymnastics by doing the splits.

Day 245 - Sunday

After church, Ben and Mom went to the Farm to spend the night with Grammy.

He got plenty of smooches from Grammy, and got to explore the grass.

Day 246 - Monday

Grammy brought Mom and Ben back home and hung out with them for the day. Ben has a new trick that he's been practicing...

He's also been working on getting his fingering right on Daddy's guitar.

Day 247 - Tuesday

Tuesdays have become TV nights where Mom's friend, Brett, comes over to watch So You Think You Can Dance. This was the 4th or 5th consecutive week that Brett had visited, and Ben had finally decided that Brett was a cool dude. He just looked up at him and crawled right into his lap!

So Brett shared his hat with Ben. Friends for life.

Day 248 - Wednesday

Ben and Mom took Daddy to work and then went to the Museum Center for a dual-purpose.
#1 Mom did an interview for Mutual of Omaha's "Aha Moment" campaign.
#2 She also delivered a piece of artwork to Arynn to display in the Museum.

It's been mentioned several times before, but we at the Daily cannot overstate the fact that Ben is just so great at traveling around and running errands! He's great company in the car, and loves to get out and see the world.

Day 249 - Fourth of July!

The Wolf family drove up north to visit with Grandpa Chuck for the forth! It was a great visit.

Ben got to meet his step-cousin, Ella, who loved to follow him around and pet his head like a puppy.

Grandpa Chuck shared some of his beer...

After lunch, everyone went out to watch the parade. It rained and rained and rained, but no one seemed to mind! With a comfy Grandpa lap to sit on, and someone holding the umbrella, Ben was as content as could be.

Back at the house, Mom and Dad played cards with Grandpa and Bobbi while Ben crawled around. Once the rain cleared out, they took a nice walk to Bobbi's sister's house.

It was a nice day to spend with family. Ben slept all the way home, and even snoozed through the many firework sounds at his house!

Day 250 - Friday

You know what makes a great toy? Paper.

Hmmm.... that green paper tastes like mint.

And to finally wrap up this long post, we leave you with the Hokey-Pokey rock star!
